📍Save this if you’re planning to visit the Iguazu Falls with kids!

The Iguazu Falls is one of those bucket list places you need to experience at least once in your life! Straddling the border between Brazil and Argentina, it’s the world’s largest set of waterfalls and one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World.

We teamed up with @visit.iguassu to explore what the falls and the area surrounding the falls have to offer - and it did not disappoint! 😍 We spent 5 days in the town of Foz do Iguaçu on the Brazilian side of the waterfalls and it was a once-in-a-lifetime trip for all of us.

We were surprised at how much more there is to do than just the falls, and how toddler-friendly everything was (I think this might have been my daughter’s favourite holiday yet!)

⛪️ Did you know you can spend the night in a church?

We tried champing, or church camping, for the first time and it was hands down one of the most unique places we’ve ever stayed! 😍

We chose to stay in the beautiful St Barnabas Church in Queen Camel, Somerset, and had the church all to ourselves. It was such a unique and intimate way to experience a church (waking up to the morning light shining through the stained glass windows was just magical!) ✨

Our daughter absolutely loved being able to freely play and run around and there were also some toys that the church warden had very kindly left us from the church’s kids play group.

The champing experience is run by @churchcamping and @churchesconservationtrust and there are currently 29 churches to choose from nationwide. Depending on where you stay, the facilities may vary - we had a basic kitchen, camp beds and a toilet (but no shower) so there was everything we needed for a comfortable stay for the night.

Are you familiar with the concept of “forest bathing”? 🌲🌳

Growing up on a Swedish island with no cars, I spent my childhood exploring the landscapes around me and have always felt a strong connection to nature in all its forms.

The word “skogsbad”, based on the Japanese practice Shinrin-yoku, is one of my favourite Swedish words which I think really encapsulates the Scandinavian way of living and the closeness we have to nature. It’s about slowing down, focusing on the present and using our senses to reconnect with the nature. 🌿

We are very fortunate to have lots of woodlands where we live in Surrey, UK, and I try to take my daughter out as much as I can - not just to parks and playgrounds, but for slow walks around the woods, listening to the birds, smelling the flowers, looking up through the tree branches. It’s become a little ritual of ours and I hope it’s something that will stay with her as she grows 💚

This was one of our favourite spots from our trip to Portugal last week - it’s basically kilometres of just pure white sand and crystal clear water 💎

📍 Armona Island, Portugal

To get here, go to the small town Olhao and then get the local ferry across to Armona island (Olhao is a really cute town so perfect for a nice lunch before jumping on the ferry).

⛴️ The ferry ride is only about 15 mins, but they only run every other hour so make sure to look up the schedule in advance to avoid waiting around for hours! From the dock, it’s about a 20 minute walk across the island to get to the beach.

The water at the beach is quite shallow, so it was warmer than other places we went and perfect for little ones wanting a splash!

Feeding your toddler while travelling can seem daunting, but with a bit of preparation, mealtime on the go can be a smooth part of your family adventure!

We put together a blog post with our top tips for stress free travel feeding, including key points like:

🍎 Snacks snacks snacks – Honestly, you can never have too many! Pack things like crackers, fruit pouches, and dried fruits. Make sure you have them handy to avoid hungry toddler tantrums!

🍱 Packed lunches go a long way – Bring leftovers from a meal you cooked or from eating out, or even a slice of bread from the hotel breakfast. This way you can travel feeling reassured that your child will always have something to eat. Remember to bring a sturdy food container with you!

🥜 Be allergen ready – Travelling to a new destination can be daunting especially if your child has allergies so always be prepared. Make sure you have a picture and translation of the allergen and remember to bring a letter from your doctor for any medicines they need.

🍝 Familiar comfort foods – As much as I think it’s always good to expose your child to new food and flavours, having a few familiar snacks or easy-to-pack meals can be a lifesaver for picky eaters!

🍽️ Embrace flexibility – Things won’t always go as planned and that is completely normal. The change in routine may disrupt their appetite so be flexible to their needs and continue to offer food without putting too much pressure on them.

This beach in the Algarve was on Guide Michelin’s list of the most beautiful beaches in the world - and I can see why! It’s absolutely stunning and feels secluded, whilst still being easily accessed via stairs.

We never actually planned to travel with our daughter - in fact, when we found out I was pregnant we kinda thought “that’s it”, but here we are 16 countries and 40+ flights later!

If you’re at that stage that we were wondering if you can still travel with a baby or toddler - then let me tell you, it is possible! And I would even go as far as saying that the trips we’ve done since having our daughter are even more special and memorable than the ones we did before.

So go ahead and book that trip - you won’t regret it! 😍

🛌 Comfort - having a car means you can have comfort items handy like blankets, toys, snacks, even your toddler’s favorite playlist. For the duration of the holiday it becomes a home on wheels!

Have you heard of this waterfall in Albania? 🇦🇱

This was one of our highlights from our entire Albania road trip last year - the waterfall is less than an hour’s drive from Berat, followed by a 15 minute walk, and is definitely a little hidden gem. 💎

📍 Bogovë Waterfall, Albania

The trail to the waterfall is easy to walk, but quite uneven so I would ditch the pram and bring a carrier/let your little one walk by themself if they can.

Once there, you can go for a swim in the crystal clear water (it is COLD 🥶 so only for adults - though my daughter dipped her toes in the shallow bits).

And if you go here, make sure to continue along the river into the beautiful Osumi Canyon!

⬇️ Things I wish I knew before travelling to Morocco with a toddler

Morocco is a great destination for a toddler holiday! It’s beautiful and diverse with plenty to do for adults and toddlers alike 🌴

However as with any destination, there are a few things worth bearing in mind if you’re planning to visit with young children:

🗣️ The cities are loud - the city centres in Morocco are very noisy - mopeds zig-zagging the narrow roads, street vendors shouting, big crowds of people, snake charmers, donkeys… Let’s just say I’m very happy I brought ear defenders for this trip (especially during nap time!)

☀️ It gets really hot - even when we went in February, the sun was very hot in the middle of the day. If you are planning on going in summertime, expect temperatures north of 40°C. Do early morning explorations, take midday breaks, and save energy for calm evenings.

🛝 Difficult finding playgrounds - compared to other places we’ve been, there weren’t many playgrounds around (in fact, we only went to one playground during the entire trip and that was at a service station). We ended up taking our daughter to parks and gardens instead where she enjoyed running around.

🏨 Riads aren’t always the most child-friendly - while they are beautiful, they are old, traditional buildings and therefore not designed with toddlers in mind. Lots of stairs, open courtyards, and fragile decor. We loved our Riad stay but we definitely had to keep an eye on our toddler!

❤️ Moroccans adore children - expect smiles, high-fives, and genuine kindness everywhere you go. My daughter always had a snack in her hand that some stranger had given to her - a piece of fruit, nuts, yoghurt pot, boiled egg… Your toddler will feel like royalty! 👑

🇲🇦 Day 6 of exploring Morocco with a toddler! 🇲🇦

A full day of exploring Paradise Valley! 🌴

Tucked away in the Atlas Mountains, this little oasis of crystal-clear pools, lush palm trees and stunning mountain views is the perfect day trip from Agadir or Taghazout.

We rounded off the day at Imi Quaddar beach with some seafood by the sea at sunset 🌅

A full day of exploring Paradise Valley! 🌴

⬇️ 5 things we always pack when travelling with our toddler

Travelling with little ones can be challenging, but the right gear makes all the difference! We have been on 30+ flights with our daughter and although packing will always depend on the type of destination/length of stay etc, there are definitely a few must-haves that we always bring with us!

1️⃣ Pram bag - no matter how small our pram, we always bring an XL pram bag to put it in. Why? Because this is a great way to smuggle all those things that you couldn’t fit in your hand luggage! 🤫

2️⃣ Baby/toddler carrier - although our toddler is now nearly 2,5 years old, having some form of sling/carrier makes travelling so much easier - especially when going through security/onboard the plane, etc. (Mainly because it stops her from escaping 😅)

3️⃣ Magnetic drawing board - this is currently our number 1 go-to toy for travelling. Our daughter loves drawing and painting, and this way you don’t need to worry about running out of paper/searching the floor for missing pen caps 🖍️

4️⃣ Snacks - this one is probably on most people’s list already, but if there’s one thing that works to keep a toddler happy, it’s snacks. Our go-to snacks at the moment are mini raisin boxes - they hardly take up any space and they’re a bit fiddly, meaning they keep our daughter entertained for longer! 🍇

5️⃣ Cuddly toy/travel pillow - this is a new addition to our list and has been a game changer! A cuddly toy that transforms into a travel pillow - perfect for having a sleep on the plane and the cuddly toy is now our daughter’s favourite - comfort + practicality = winning! 🧸

This helicopter ride was a real bucket list moment for us! Being able to take our toddler on this made it even more special - and she absolutely loved it! 🤩

The final day of our road trip! And what an incredible trip this has been! 😍

We started the day by feeding the llamas at @dormirconllamas, then drove through the jungle back to Salta where we rounded off our holiday with an incredible meal at @houseofjasminesrelaischateaux.

🇦🇷 Day 7 of our Nortern Argentina road trip with a toddler!

This day had some real trip highlights! It was our first time seeing salt flats so visiting the Salinas Grandes was one of things we’d been looking forward to the most this holiday. And it did not disappoint! 🧂

The 7 coloured mountain in Purmamarca was also incredible (my phone camera definitely doesn’t do it justice!) - I hadn’t expected the colours to be so vibrant as we’ve seen other rainbow mountains on this trip with more muted colours.

And the drive through the mountains today was one of the most spectacular drives of this trip (and no clouds this time! 😂)

10/10! ❤️

🇦🇷 Day 7 of our Nortern Argentina road trip with a toddler!

This day had some real trip highlights! It was our first time seeing salt flats so visiting the Salinas Grandes was one of things we’d been looking forward to the most this holiday. And it did not disappoint! 🧂

Today we left Cachi and headed back to Salta. This was such a diverse drive, starting with cactus groves 🌵 and red rocks, then through green, barren mountains reminiscent of Iceland ⛰️ and finishing through rainforest 🌴

I’ll admit I was very disappointed we didn’t get the view at the top of the mountain, but in hindsight, driving through a cloud down a hairpin road was a pretty cool experience (and when you’re at an altitude of nearly 4000 metres, you can expect there to be some clouds) ☁️

Finished the day with some food and amazing music at @rincondelolivo.salta (before being locked out of our Airbnb but that’s a story for another day 😅)

Today we left Cafayate behind and headed north to Cachi 🌵

This was another gorgeous drive! It took longer than expected as it was all dirt roads (and we stopped for photos a lot! 😍) but we managed to keep our toddler entertained with games, stops, and lots of snacks.

We arrived at our cabaña in Cachi just in time for dinner and got the most gorgeous view of the hills for sunset 🌅

Finished off with some 🍷 under a million stars 🌟
